Midstate Security acquires Vision Technology

GRANDVILLE, Mich.--Midstate Security, an integrator working in security and automation solutions, announced this week the acquisition of Vision Technology International, a Holland, Mich.-based installer, manufacturer and distributor of security and surveillance technology products and services. Terms of the acquisition, which closed June 17, were not released. Vision will extend Midstate's security capabilities and increase the company's customer base, said Walter Catton, Midstate president and chief executive officer. He said the companies had no existing relationship other than competing in the same market, but "as we set the goals for our organic and inorganic growth plans, we looked for companies with similar philosophies to ours, especially focused on exceeding customer expectations, and they're one of the companies in the western Michigan area that complemented that." Plus, Catton said, Vision is strong in the verticals in which Midstate often works: manufacturing/industrial, healthcare and corrections. Further, he said, as a registered partner of Cisco, Vision is able provide customers with Cisco physical security products, and Vision's independent, private label product line of security equipment will enable Midstate to provide additional, cost-effective security solutions to customers. As a result of the acquisition, Midstate will add sales, technical and project management personnel to its existing 66 employees. The company will also gain an office in Gaylord, Mich., strengthening its market presence in Northern Michigan. Going forward, Catton said Midstate, which operates from Michigan down to Florida, is taking steps toward becoming a national player.
