New office calls for a mile move

SUWANEE, Ga.--Systems integrator Richardson Associates Electronics moved into a new location in the first quarter of 2005 that is three times the size of its previous office. The company, which was launched in 1963 and employs 70 people, transformed its business model since moving into its old office five years ago and that change also turned into a need for additional space. "We went from people who just needed space to run the business out of and project manage to needing a space to bring people in to do presentations," said Joseph Ciotti, president of the company. "With that demand, plus the depressed real estate in our area, we were able to move into a larger facility." Ciotti said the leasing market in the area is so attractive at this time that buying was not something that was considered. Even with the leasing agreement, the company still has the option to expand further. "We went from 10,000 square feet to 30,000 square feet and we have the ability to grow in years to come," Ciotti said. "It is perfect for what we are trying to accomplish in the marketplace." The new space, which is located one mile from its previous office, allows the firm to offer educational classes for its employees and partners in-house as well as bring customers in during the bidding process. The presentation room can accommodate up to 75 people depending on the set-up of the room. Richardson Associates Electronics, which focuses on the healthcare and education sectors, centers its business efforts on the northern half of Georgia and Ciotti said there are plenty of opportunities. "Every time we look at the horizon, we see more business directly in front of us," he said. "We continue to grow right within our own front yard."
