NFPA gives $6 m. to FPRF

QUINCY--The National Fire Protection Agency announced Sept. 23 that it has given $6 million to establish an endowment for the Fire Protection Research Foundation. The foundation is an affiliate of NFPA that conducts research on a broad range of fire-safety issues. FPRF collaborates with scientists and laboratories around the world in its research. Its findings are used by NFPA codes and standards committees and are also used to support NFPA advocacy initiatives. Kathleen Almand, executive director of the foundation, told Security Systems News that the endowment is “intended to solidify and strengthen our base of operations to make us a more effective research program and developer, to help keep cost down and make us better able to put together collaborative research and development projects.”
