Nuccio, Haislip, Polk to present in Feb.

PALM BEACH, Fla.--Dealers, integrators and representatives from the financial sector will gather Feb. 6 through 8 at The Breakers Hotel for the 14th annual Barnes Buchanan Security Alarm Conference. This year’s line-up of presenters includes a CEO roundtable, an association panel, presentations from a number of alarm companies, CapitolSource Finance’s Bill Polk giving an overview of the financial markets’ impact on lending, Michael Barnes’ annual alarm industry and market overview, and, on the lighter side, celebrity golfer David Feherty will deliver a keynote at the Feb. 5 dinner. “The goal of the conference is to educate stakeholders in alarm companies on the high-level issues affecting this segment, including: market values including acquisitions; operating metrics; growth; industry trends; technology trends; capital and ‘the players,’” said Michael Barnes, a partner in Barnes Associates, an investment banking and consulting firm that specializes in the security alarm industry. Barnes Associates co-sponsors the event with law firm Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney. “We hope to give all attendees a better understanding of what has happened, what is happening, and what is likely to happen on these important issues,” Barnes said, “so they can make better decisions and execute more effectively.” The CEO roundtable will include Richard Ginsburg of Protection One, Mike Haislip of Monitronics and representatives of two other major alarm companies. Alarm company presenters include Joe Nuccio of ASG; George Broady of Kings III of America; John Doyle of Doyle Security; Ira Rikilis of COPS, and Daniel Demers of Protectron. New this year is the association panel, featuring executive directors of leading industry trade associations: Dave Carter of Security Networks of America; Merlin Guilbeau of the NBFAA; Bill Bozeman of PSA Security Network; and Steve Doyle of the CSAA. “They will explain the different roles played by their respective groups and the various constituencies they serve,” said Bryan Lawrence, co-chairman of the Security Alarm Practice Group at Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney. “We will also ask them to address, either in their presentations or via Q&A, what changes they see on the horizon, including technological changes, potential new revenue streams, integration issues, etc., and what types of opportunities and challenges such changes will present to their respective members.”
