Olympic, counterterrorism security expert Tubbs to keynote TechSec Solutions

SAVANNAH, Ga.--As chief architect of SAIC's security infrastructure for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, David Tubbs led an international team tasked with protecting more than 11,000 athletes and millions of fans through a massive IT implementation, comprising 29 different subsystems, 130 fixed and five mobile command centers, to safeguard the games. Fortunately, through a 23-year career with the FBI, Tubbs had done it all before, leading Olympic security operations in Atlanta and the 1994 World Cup for the bureau, as well as through his appointment as the director for the public safety command for Salt Lake City's 2002 Olympic games. Want to hear how Tubbs did it? He'll lay it all out, recounting his experiences in melding together multiple CCTV and perimeter protection systems, command and control operations and the efforts of multiple technology partners, Olympic officials and foreign governments to safeguard a high-profile, international event at TechSec Solutions in Savannah, Ga., as the event's keynote speaker on Feb. 26, 2006. Put on by Security Systems News and publisher United Publications, TechSec is in its second year and brings together security integrators, end-users, consultants and manufacturers to talk about IP-based solutions and how these solutions are directly impacting the security industry. As senior vice president at SAIC, Tubbs also has a wealth of knowledge about government contracting. SAIC does more $4 billion worth of work annually for the federal government and New York City recently announced that SAIC would be planning the security for the WTC site as rebuilding goes forward. Last year's TechSec Solutions conference drew 200 attendees. Companies that participated in 2005 included Northrop Grumman, ObjectVideo, Fidelity Investments, retailer Beall's, Convergint Technologies, Bosch Security Systems and CoreStreet.
