Pacom ramps up Americas efforts

SARASOTA, Fla.--Following up on a promise made by newly installed chief executive officer Magnus Johnsson roughly a year ago, IP access control manufacturer Pacom, headquartered Sydney, Australia, has increased its focus on the North American market, as evidenced by the hire of a new Americas president Derek Tanguay and Americas director of sales and business development Brian Tilson. Tanguay comes to Pacom after nine years with March Networks, where he was director of global sales and business development for the financial solutions vertical, where Pacom currently has its strongest install base. Tilson was most recently responsible for managing international channels and the U.S. government for IP camera maker Lumenara. Both will now focus on establishing the Pacom brand, which was hidden largely behind Moseler's and Diebold's brands until 2003. "There's been a lot of reliance on the integration channel for that," Tanguay said, "but we're looking to expand our sales force to evangelize Pacom." Pacom's IP access solution, said Tilson, is suited for integrators "that are looking at security as becoming more network-centric and getting technicians trained to install and understand IP. You can start pulling in your video, your building management, other building blocks all under the same platform ... We're looking for guys who can push the envelope and expand the horizons of the end user."
