Pennsylvania regional acquires three Select Security goes west, then east, then west again

LANCASTER, Pa.— Select Security continued its shopping spree over the past few months, crisscrossing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania acquiring three companies, including two near Pittsburgh, marking the regional security company's first foray into Western Pennsylvania.

The acquisitions add $70,000 in RMR and 3,100 new monitored accounts to Select Security's rolls, “making it a grand total of 9,287 customers,” Patrick Egan, Select Security CEO told Security Systems News.

In April, Select acquired Security & Fire of Pennsylvania, Inc, of Franklin, Pa. Gary Moyse, founder and owner, is staying on as a senior account representative, as is the entire staff of eight employees, which includes four technicians, and three office personnel. In addition, Vector Security veteran John Zabrosky, joined Select as operations manager for Western Pennsylvania and will work out of the Franklin office

Egan went east in July and acquired Allied Alarms of Stroudsburg, Pa. “We bought five companies in the Poconos last year and this is the sixth,” Egan said. The seller, David Smalley, the Stroudsburg Township fire chief has joined Select as regional manager of the Poconos area. The Allied offices were closed and the Poconos region operations have been consolidated and will be run out of a new facility, completed August 15, in Stroudsburg. “It's a 2,400 square foot centrally located facility that will serve a large customer base,” Egan explained.

Egan's most recent acquisition of All Security Response Systems of Meadville, Pa., closed on Sept. 1. That office was closed and will now operate out of the Franklin, Pa., office. Former owner of All Security, Randy Byham, is staying on as an account executive.

“All three are quality companies that were built over a period of time. They have mature, happy accounts and good-performing customers,” Egan said. A majority of the newly acquired accounts (roughly 60 percent) are commercial accounts.
