Pro: Room to move in Va.

LAWRENCE, Kan.--Protection One, fresh out of an out-of-court bankruptcy restructuring, is making strides toward rebuilding its business, and in a physical move that mirrors that initiative, the company relocated its Richmond, Va.-based location to a new, larger facility in March. The branch moved to a new larger location at 430 Southlake Blvd., in Richmond. The former office was 560 square feet and the new space is almost triple that at 1,500 square feet. To fill the additional space, the branch is developing an equipment demo and consulting area for customers. The location also has room for future staff growth. According to Robin Lampe, manager of corporate communications, the move was necessary to accommodate the company's growth in various areas of business. "We are requiring larger facilities to accommodate our growing residential and commercial sales staff, as well as support teams for those personnel," Lampe said. Over the past few years, the company has transformed its business model from a dealer-based business to full-service locations. This is one reason why the company required additional space. It is the seventh office the firm has moved in the past year and more are on the way. "We anticipate announcing several more moves in the coming months," she said.
