Protection One's corporate office to relocate

June 24, 2004 TOPEKA, Kan. -Protection One has found a new home for its corporate functions and later this year is expected to move out of a facility it now shares with former parent company Westar Energy. Last week, officials from the security company announced Protection One will lease space in neighboring Lawrence, at a former shopping mall that has been renovated into a business center. “It was not an easy decision to relocate our corporate headquarters," said Richard Ginsburg, president and chief executive officer of Protection One. "However, we believe this location will serve us very well into the future and that relocating to Lawrence will allow us to inject a new culture into our corporate office, providing us a fresh start in a new facility and in new surroundings." Protection One was bought by New York investment firm Quadrangle Group earlier this year as its former parent company Westar restructured debt and focused on its utility business. Protection One is leasing space at the I-70 Business Center for its accounting department, administration, accounts payable, marketing, fleet and facilities management and human resources. About 65 people will relocate to the new facility from its corporate office in Topeka, with plans to hire another 15 people within the next several years. The 88,000 square foot facility that Protection One will move into will also serve as home to a company that sells home medical equipment.
