Radio back-up helps police foil break-in

ROCHESTER, Minn. - A monitored alarm system from Custom Alarm equipped with radio backup foiled a burglary attempt at a building belonging to a golf course here in June.

Burglars removed an old burglary alarm bell from an exterior wall and cut the phone lines, but did not know that the alarm bell had been disconnected years ago. Though the phone line had been rendered useless, the back-up radio system alerted dispatchers at Custom Alarm’s UL-listed central station in Rochester, and the dispatcher called police to the scene.

Although a window had been broken and things inside the building disturbed, nothing appeared to be stolen.
