Ryan Fire Protection gets grant to expand Briefs

NOBLESVILLE, Ind.-Ryan Fire Protection, a fire sprinkler company based here, announced in mid-March that, with the help of a state grant, it would be expanding its operations in South Bend.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation will give Ryan Protection up to $130,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $170,000 in training grants.
"This will help us from a financial standpoint, to get people up to speed," said Dan Ryan, president of Ryan Fire Protection. "It will give us even more opportunity to train our workers effectively."
Ryan expects to add 25 new jobs, mostly pipe fitters, engineers, fabricators and managers. The grants are for a three-year period. Ryan will be moving to a larger location in South Bend. It also has offices in Fort Wayne, Valparaiso and Indianapolis. The 20-year-old company employs 220, Ryan said, and does business all over the country.
"South Bend has the second-largest overnight over-the-road distribution zone in North America. Coupled with our low cost of living and our high-tech infrastructure, South Bend provides companies an advantage for moving forward in these challenging economic times," said South Bend Mayor Steve Luecke, in a prepared statement.
Ryan Fire Protection designs, manufactures, installs and maintains new and retrofit fire protection systems.
