Saflink settles with DP Brief

BELLEVUE, Wash.--Saflink, a biometric security manufacturer, agreed to settle a patent infringement lawsuit with Digital Persona in mid March. Under the agreement, Saflink has granted Digital Persona a royalty-bearing, non-exclusive license to the '806 patent family in exchange for a similar license to Digital Persona's 6,125,192 patent family. Saflink's patent in question establishes a method for authenticating users to a computer network. Digital Persona, which manufactures biometric authentication solutions, will be sharing a patent family that deals with a fingerprint recognition system. Other terms of the settlement were not disclosed. Saflink also in March released Saflink SureAccess, an all-weather, smart card, biometric reader that reduces the threat of unauthorized access to critical facilities, and is designed to utilize on-card biometric data.
