Security firm garners government contract

December 4, 2003 SILVER SPRING, Md. - Thanks to its General Services Administration Schedule, USProtect this week began providing armed, uniformed security guards to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The guard company announced the contract win Tuesday. Terms of the contract, such as the contract price and duration, were not released. As part of the contract, USProtect will provide 24-hour protection to the USDA’s National Plant Germplasm & Biotechnology Laboratory in Beltsville, Md., and staff the facility with six security guards. The company will be responsible for visitor access control, crime and theft prevention, maintaining entry / exit logs, roving armed security patrols and emergency response.
