SIA names new product showcase winners at ISC

LAS VEGAS - For manufacturers, one of the highlights of the ISC West show in Las Vegas is the Security Industry Association’s (SIA) new product showcase awards. On March 27, at the Sands Convention Center here, SIA announced the winners of the 2003 awards. This year, judges chose the winners from among the 74 products entered. The best-of-show award, which is also titled the Innovation Award, was presented to Object Video for its video early warning system (VEW). According to company officials, VEW is a video surveillance product that allows computers to “see.” VEW is capable of a detecting, identifying and analyzing objects captured on video automatically and in real-time. Company officials said VEW provides users with a higher probability of threat detection, significantly lower false alarm rates and greater control over how security resources are deployed within an organization. “We are excited and very honored to receive this award and look forward to continuing to provide the latest, cutting-edge technology for physical security applications,” said Clara Conti, chief executive officer of ObjectVideo. Smart Sight Networks was awarded the Judges Choice Award for commercial products for the S1100W multiband wireless video transmitter. “The S1100W enables users to operate over 60 wireless cameras per site, making it the first viable solution for citywide video surveillance applications,” said Smart Sight President Jean-Paul Saindon. Axis Communications captured the Judge’s Choice Award in digital video for its 2130 PTZ network camera. “I think this is a big recognition from the industry,” said Fredrik Nilsson, Axis Communications director of business development. The rest of the SIA new product showcase awards were presented as follows: the Judge’s Choice Award for residential products was awarded to Ion Security for its Micron 433 sensor. The Product Achievement Award for integrated systems was presented to to DVTel for its SecureLink transmission. The Product Achievement Award for Access Control was given to Barantec Inc. for the Everswitch Prox; and the Product Achievement Award for biometrics was awarded to FKI Security Group/NKL for the Intellisafe AXC 2920. The Product Achievement Award for fire detection/prevention was given to Gentex Corp. for its Commander4 ceiling mount; the intrusion detection/prevention product achievement award went to GE Interlogix for Allegro. The monitoring Product Achievement Award was presented to OzVision America for the OzLine 4VC. The Product Achievement Award for wireless was given to Hirsch Electronics for the Hirsch Rapid Deployment Kit. In addition to the Judge’s Choice and the Product Achievement Awards at the show, Bosch Security Systems was awarded an Honorable Mention Achievement Award for its D1260 Alpha V Command Center.
