Siemens teams with Windemuller to secure bridge

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.--A critical border crossing, the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge, will be secured by Siemens Building Technologies and Windemuller, a Michigan-based contractor. The companies announced on October 5 that they'd won a $1.3 million contract to install CCTV to monitor and manage traffic flow at both ends of the nearly two-mile-long bridge, which provides passage between this city and its sister city, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The Board of Directors of the Joint International Bridge Association made the award. Systems integrator Siemens will supply equipment, system programming and operational training. Windemuller is responsible for the installation, which should be completed within a couple of weeks. Siemens expects the systems to be operational by the end of the year. Siemens Building Technologies, headquartered in Buffalo Grove, Ill., is a supplier of building controls, fire safety and security systems. In business for 50 years, Windemuller has 190 employees and serves commercial, industrial and municipal clients in Michigan.
