Sprinkler inspections advised in Alaska Brief

JUNEAU, Alaska--As 2005 drew to a close, Fire Marshal Richard Etheridge urged owners of buildings equipped with sprinklers to get systems inspected, according to a news report from the Juneau Empire. The 2005 annual inspections, required by state law, were complete in only half of the city's 200 sprinklered buildings by the end of October. Building owners without certified sprinklers will not be entitled to take property tax and insurance breaks. Inspections can reveal problems--such as leaks--that would render the systems useless in case of a fire.
