ST. LOUIS, Mo.--The St. Louis Fire Sprinkler Alliance awarded St. Louis University the second annual Platinum Sprinkler Service Award to recognize the university's fire safety efforts.
An SLU press release said the university used part of a $100 million initiative to retrofit almost all of its older dormitories; nearly 95 percent of campus housing is now sprinklered. The university accepted the award at a ceremony that took place in December.
In 2004, SLU was recognized by The Princeton Review and The Center for Campus Fire Safety. The groups surveyed 700 schools and ranked SLU first in Missouri for fire safety.
