Statewide company extends reach

WEST ROCKPORT, Maine -A family run installation company here that has spent the last 20 years increasing its coverage area within the state has expanded its operations in two growing areas of Maine with additional staff. With the creation of two new full time positions, Seacoast Security has a presence in the six different regions of the state. The company uses those locations to service its more than 10,000 accounts located in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. One position was added to the company’s presence in Presque Isle in the state’s northern territory. Seacoast had an existing salesman there, a former local security company owner who operated from his home for the past eight months. With the addition of a full-time electrician as an installation technician, Seacoast is now scouting for office space to set up a small sales and service location there. The company has about 100 accounts in that area, said Scott Haynes, Seacoast’s sales manager. Another location in the Machias area, located on Maine’s eastern coastline, also gained a technician position. With offices in southern Maine’s Freeport, central Maine’s Lewiston and Bangor and the company’s headquarters here, “that way we have the state covered in any direction,” Haynes said. The 25-year-old company has grown both by acquisition and through organic growth over the years, making it one of the state’s largest security companies and one of the few with a central station, said David Haynes, Seacoast’s president. “If the opportunity arises, certainly we are open to making more acquisitions,” he said. For now, the company is working on expanding its presence in the Machias and Presque Isle areas and waiting for its 800-square-foot central station to complete the Underwriters Laboratories certification program. “We are really expanding the video and access control,” David Hayes said. “That is becoming a bigger part of our business each year.” Some of the company’s larger acquisitions have been Security Engineering in Yarmouth, State Alarm in Lewiston and Central Protection in Bangor. The company has also bought small groups of accounts from dealers using Seacoast for its monitoring services, such as Radar Sentry in Waterville, who recently sold a small group of accounts to the company.
