Tax bill has alarm fee reminder

Tax bill has alarm fee reminder Brief

GEORGETOWN, S.C.--Residents who have a fire or burglar security system here who did not pay a one-time $25 fee to register their systems with the county received a reminder on their property tax bill, reported the Georgetown Times. Part of the county's false alarm ordinance passed by the Georgetown County Council earlier this year, residents with a fire or security system have 60 days to register. To register, residents must list hazardous material stored at their home and the name of three key holders who can respond if an alarm is activated. Homeowners get three free false alarms. After that, they must pay $100 per false alarm.
