Tyco announces reorganization details Gursahaney, Seavers, Oliver get seats at the Breen table

HAMILTON, Bermuda--Some familiar faces will be in new places at the slimmed-down Tyco International once the conglomerate's separation into three separately traded companies becomes final. Tyco is spinning off its health-care (renamed Covidien and based in Mansfield, Mass.) and electronics divisions (Berwyn, Pa.), and reorganizing what remains into five segments: ADT Worldwide, Fire Protection Services, Safety Products, Flow Control, and Electrical and Metal Products, the heads of which will report to Tyco International chief executive Ed Breen. In a May 31 announcement, Tyco announced the leadership for the three security-related segments. Current Tyco Flow Control president Naren Gersahaney will head ADT Worldwide; current SimplexGrinnell president Dean Seavers will head Fire Protection Services; current president of Tyco Safety Products George Oliver will continue in this role and assume responsibility for Tyco Electrical and Metal Products, as well. "These changes are the latest in a series of steps we have taken over the last year to create a more lean and efficient organization for Tyco International," Breen said in a statement. The separation is expected to become final at the end of June. Tyco first announced its intention to split into three separately traded companies in January 2006 (see "Divvying up Tyco International in the February 2006 issue of Security Systems News). Dave Robinson, current head of Tyco Fire and Security, a division that is being eliminated, will leave the company. Paul FitzHenry, of Tyco International media relations, said Gursahaney will oversee ADT worldwide including ADT North America (which is led by John Koch) and all of Tyco's Fire and Security operations outside of North America. Before joining Tyco he spent 10 years at GE. Asked about Gursahaney's lack of security-specific experience as head of Flow Control, FitzHenry said, "We believe Naren will be a strong leader for ADT Worldwide, given his strong operational experience. He also has considerable experience in consumer sales businesses during his tenure at GE."
