Tyco moves jobs out of Mass.

WESTMINSTER, Mass.--The Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported in October that Tyco International would move 82 jobs from its manufacturing plan here to plants in Texas and Mexico. The employees manufactured fire alarm control panels at a leased facility. According to the report, the move will take place over 16 months, with the first phase beginning in March 2009 and the second stage beginning in January 2010. The move is not a result of the economy here, rather it is part of a review conducted by Tyco on a global scale. Westminster is the home Tyco Safety Products and Simplex Grinnell, which employ 670 people here.
