UCC adds to team in push for national presence

December 2, 2004 SAN ANTONIO - Strengthening its resolve to be a national third-party monitoring station, United Central Control has created the position of director of national accounts and filled it with Jim Burky. Burky most recently served as director of marketing at Dice Corp. UCC converted to Dice’s central station software in April, and Burky worked with the company during the transition. Previously, he worked at ABM Data Systems in an executive role. “The main priority of bringing him on is to increase our presence on a national level,” said Mark Matlock, vice president of sales and marketing for UCC. UCC’s strategy has been to expand beyond Texas, where it has a regional presence and sales people on the ground. Burky, who will be based at his home in Austin, Texas, will target installers across the country with 2,000 accounts or more. “He will be looking to make a name for us beyond Texas,” said Matlock. UCC set a goal of monitoring 80,000 accounts by the end of 2004, up from 50,000 in October 2003, and is on target meet this milestone, according to Matlock. The majority of the company’s accounts are residential, with the average dealer it works with holding an account portfolio of 350.
