LINCOLN, Neb.--James and Mary Stewart of Ord, Neb., in August filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Nebraska Wesylan University and the fraternity, Phi Kappa Tau, saying both entities were negligent in the death of their son, NTV reported. The Stewarts' son, Ryan, 19, died in a fraternity house fire in November 2006. The lawsuit asks for more than $10,000 in medical costs and an unspecified amount for the wrongful death and negligence claims. The fraternity house was not equipped with sprinklers, but it was not required by code to have sprinklers. However, the university has now installed sprinkler systems campus-wide.
