Viisage buys fellow identification company

October 7, 2004 BILLERICA, Mass. - Identity management company Viisage has bought an identity authentication company whose technology it has already deployed in some of its products. The acquisition of Imaging Automation of Bedford, N.H. provides Viisage with products that complement its identity credentials and biometrics business. Viisage bought the company for $5 million in cash and for 3.9-million shares of Viisage common stock. According to company officials, the acquisition of Imaging Automation provides Viisage with identity documentation products, such as authentication software and document scanning. The company also enables Viisage to leverage its existing relationships with federal programs, such as the US Visit and Registered Travelers pilot programs.
