BILLERICA, Mass. - Viisage has announced a technology integration and marketing partnership with Siemens AG that includes working with the electronics and engineering company’s building automation, fire safety and security business unit Siemens Building Technologies.
The identity verification company gains exclusive rights to Siemens’ 3-D image acquisition hardware and brings to the deal its 2-D and 3-D face recognition software. The Siemens Building Technologies unit will offer jointly developed face recognition systems to its business partners as a result of the deal.
Viisage expects to spend the next three to four months integrating the sensors and driver software it received from Siemens into its own products, according to Mohamed Lazzouni, chief technology officer at Viisage. Lazzouni could not speculate when an integrated product featuring technology from both companies would hit the market.
