Xanboo, AT&T launch dealer program

NEW YORK, N.Y.--Xanboo, a developer and manufacturer of remote monitoring technology, which developed the backend architecture, devices and support system for AT&T's Remote Monitor service, on Aug. 11 launched an authorized dealer program for AT&T's service. "The basic [AT&T Remote Monitor] product has been out for close to two years, during which we've been adding an assortment of support for existing security equipment, such as Honeywell and DSC, and we felt it was an ideal time to work with and recruit the whole range of traditional security dealers," said Bill Diamond, chief executive officer of Xanboo. AT&T's Remote Monitor service allows customers to remotely access and control video, home automation and security equipment via PC or mobile device. While the system enables self-monitoring, it can also be monitored using the dealers' existing central station partner. Because AT&T's system requires professional installation to integrate with existing security systems, Diamond said it was important to add traditional security dealers to the mix. He also emphasized that the AT&T service isn't intended to replace existing security systems, but rather to allow dealers to offer additional services to customers. "No one is going to displace Honeywell or DSC. What dealers want is a range of services that seamlessly operate with existing Honeywell or DSC equipment," he said. "We're not looking to change how traditional security dealers run their business, we're just looking to offer them the ability to offer interactive services on top of their core offerings to their existing customer base." The dealer program requires a $1,750 start-up fee, which includes a personalized Web site, marketing materials, technical support and training opportunities. Diamond said they are looking to target a large number of security dealers to add to the program.
