ADT's largest dealer opens new call center, creates 100 jobs
Just saw this story that Defender Direct, ADT's largest dealer, is spending $2.3 million to lease and open a call center in Newport, Kentucky, right near the Ohio line and less than 15 miles from Cincinnati, or "the Natty" as one friend of mine, who grew up in that fair city, calls it. This is happy news for Newport and the Natty, as Defender's new call center will create 100 new jobs. According to this story, Defender decided to locate the call center (it's fourth) here because of good relationships with Newport city government, the local Tri-Ed and Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, which is giving Defender $750,000 in tax breaks for locating here. Defender Direct is one of the first companies to take advantage of the new program, according to the story. Click here to read it. Defender is a smart company that's shown before that it knows how to work with government and take advantage of these types of incentives for business. In January of 2008, Dave Lindsay, Defender CEO, scored $6 million in performance-based tax credits and up to $345,000 in training grants, and consideration for property-tax abatement from the city of Indianapolis, as a very nice thank you for investing $15 million in expanding his business.
