Storage in the physical security space has been dominated in recent years by the transition to IP, replacing old analog as the dominant method to retain the results of video surveillance. Now, top companies in the storage space say, the next step will be to move to “the cloud.”
The latest in market research from IMS suggests plentiful future growth for the perimeter sensor market, including both cabled and non-cabled sensors. The world market for perimeter security sensors is projected to exceed $440 million by 2014, up from $300 million, currently. Where is this growth coming from and where is there opportunity for integrators to grab a piece of the action?
A new forecast from ABI Research suggests more growth in the market of cards containing an integrated circuit in the coming years. There were 5.2 billion of these “smart cards” shipped in 2009 (a market worth $1.7 billion), and ABI projects growth of more than 2 billion IC cards to ship through 2015, bringing the total worldwide market to more than 7.2 billion.
The market for CCTV and video surveillance equipment in Latin America was estimated to be worth just under $300 million in 2009. The market is forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in excess of 15.0% over the forecast period, according to IMS Research.
