Video surveillance is obviously a big market for integrators, but has it gotten too big?
Some observers say that over the past five or so years, the flood of technology and demand has made the video surveillance sector a commodity market, presenting new challenges to integrators working to squeeze a margin out of products and services.

The national unemployment rate is still pretty high (9.6 percent in October 2010, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics) in this early period of economic recovery. How has this impacted your business?

A recent study, “The Americas Market for Security Systems Integration—2010 Edition,” forecasts the systems integration market will shift over the next four years to a more service-oriented model. According to IMS research analyst Ewan Lamont, by 2014, RMR from service and maintenance contracts will account for 33.4 percent of the market.
