According to a recent report from ABI Research, current economic conditions are exerting a strong influence on near-term demand for RFID systems. However, despite depressed demand, there is growth and it varies by application. Many sectors experienced depressed activity in late 2008, but the overall year remained strong.
A report released by ABI Research predicted significant growth in surveillance software revenue, from $245 million in 2008 to $900 million in 2013. Analytics are a significant driver to this market, said Stan Schatt, vice president at ABI Research.
A report released by ABI Research predicted that the total RFID market will grow from an estimated $5.3 billion in 2008 to $9.7 billion by 2013, nearly a 15 percent compound annual growth rate. The RFID market in 2007 was $4.8 billion.
