BERWYN, Pa.--Lou Stilp, CEO of InGrid, a self-installed wireless digital home security system, announced May 5 a partnership with Blue Ridge Communications, a cable company with about 183,000 subscribers located in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

InGrid's products are sold through the security dealer channel, Internet Service Providers, and "online and we're talking to a retail guy behind the scenes too," Stilp said. (Search "InGrid feted" at www.securitysystemsnews.com for information about partnerships with security dealers.)

The Blue Ridge demographic is right for the InGrid product, Stilp said, because there are a lot of second homes in the area and many residents within Blue Ridge Communications' service area commute to New York City for work. "They have a high density of high-speed data subscribers, and [Blue Ridge] is considered a leader in cable deployment services there," he explained.

"They are exactly the kind of partner we are seeking in the ISP space, someone who wants to launch a new service to subscribers and who have the means to do that," Stilp said.

Monitoring for the systems will be provided by Guardian Protection of Pittsburgh.

Stilp said InGrid does not do traditional advertising, but it's created customizable marketing materials for its partners.

Stilp expects to announce another partnership with a larger ISP within the week. In addition, he's working on launching complementary products in the near future, including a fire product that he hopes to launch in June called a siren detector. The siren detector sends an alert when it hears the siren from a home smoke detector.
