ZUG, Switzerland--Siemens Security Solutions this week announced a partnership with Bosch Security, whereby Siemens will resell Bosch's video portfolio in the EMEA and Americas. While there is no exclusivity implied, said Frank Pedersen, CEO, Security Solutions, for Siemens' Building Technologies Group, said "Bosch is one of our tier one strategic suppliers, specifically in the area of video products." This means, he said in an email interview, "We are forming a very strong relationship with them whereby we tightly integrate their products into our solutions and work with them on future roadmaps and offerings."

Pedersen said Siemens decided to make this commitment to Bosch because of "their openness to integrate through their harmonized SDK [software development kit] and their commitment to open standards such as ONVIF, which we are also actively promoting." He said, for example, Siemens' Siveillance portfolio of video management and video analytics, "was developed around our commitment to open standards, making this a good strategic fit."

This also allows Siemens to focus on Siveillance, and Pedersen said, "Siemens continues to develop its own IT-based integration platforms to enable our customers to get complete situational awareness of their facilities."
