LINCOLN, Ill.—An Aug. 2 story from the Lincoln Courier reports a new false fire alarm ordinance regulating fees administered by the Lincoln Fire Department won approval Aug. 1 during a Lincoln City Council meeting. The fees are being implemented to help reduce false alarm calls and to generate some compensation for the department’s cost of various runs.

TORONTO—In its fight against a new zero-tolerance false alarm regulation here, the Canadian Security Association scored both “a loss and a win” at a March 30 meeting of a City Council subcommittee, CANASA’s executive director JF Champagne told Security System News.

TORONTO—The Canadian Security Association continues to fight against a zero-tolerance false alarm regulation here, despite a recent decision by a city committee to defer until 2012 consideration of a proposal that would give homeowners a break, allowing them one free false fire alarm annually before fines would kick in.
