Five Questions: Gary Franklyn


Gary Franklyn was recently promoted to the newly created position of senior vice president of dealer sales at SAFE Security, a national security company headquartered in San Ramon, Calif. Franklyn is responsible for all facets of dealer management including dealer sales and marketing and dealer recruitment and retention. He is based out of Scottsdale, Ariz., working in SAFE’s branch Safeguard Security.

Five Questions: Tim Kudela


Protection 1, a full-service business and home security company, recently hired Tim Kudela as branch sales manager for its Seattle office. In his new role, Kudela is responsible for managing the sales activities of the residential and commercial sales consultants in his area, including hiring and training new consultants. Kudela, who has been in the industry for 31 years, began his career as an entry-level technician and has worked his way through all levels of the business up to branch management. Security Systems News asked Kudela Five Questions.

Five Questions: Bob Grove


Select Security recently named Bob Grove as its new director of field operations and training. Grove first joined Select Security in 2003 as an installation technician and quickly rose through the ranks, most recently serving as the technical training manager. In addition to ensuring training across the enterprise, Grove now oversees more than 60 technicians and managers of the operations team. Security Systems News caught up with Grove and asked him five questions.

Frank Guido, who recently joined Monitronics as chief marketing officer, has more than 25 years of leadership experience in branding, agency management, digital marketing, advertising, and sales and operations at a number of Fortune 500 companies, including most recently with Windstream and Alltel. Security Systems News recently asked Guido five questions.

Five Questions: Wayne Campbell


Wayne C. Campbell recently joined Advance Technology as director of operations. He brings knowledge of customer service, leadership and change management to his new role at the growing company based in Scarborough, Maine. Prior to his new position, he worked as the customer support group manager for the IDEXX Laboratories, where he managed a team of nearly 100 customer-facing professionals performing onsite software/hardware installation, onboarding, training and support. Security Systems News recently asked Campbell five questions.

Five Questions: Jennifer Thomas


In January, Jennifer Thomas was promoted to her current role as VP of operations for Sonitrol of Fort Lauderdale. She started with the company 12 years ago as an installation coordinator. Thomas said that her career at the company has been an “organic evolution. I’ve taken things on a piece at a time and they’ve all flowed together well.” Security Systems News caught up with Thomas and asked her five questions.

Five Questions: Rich Cowan


Rich Cowan is Dynamark’s new director of sales for the western U.S., “basically, everything west of Texas,” as he described it. “My job is to introduce Dynamark to the western United States,” he said, a territory where the company is less prevalent. Prior to this role, he worked for COPS Monitoring for 12 years. Security Systems News caught up with Cowan, based out of Gilbert, Ariz., and asked him five questions.

Five Questions: Annette El-Jor


Richmond Alarm is a full-service alarm company, founded in 1947, based in Midlothian, Va. The company monitors about 30,000 accounts from its own monitoring center—two-thirds of which are wholesale. Annette El-Jor recently joined the team as its operations manager, in charge of the technicians, service, installations, fire inspections, and inventory control. In early January, Security Systems News asked her five questions.

Five Questions: Brad Duffy


Brad Duffy has been promoted from treasurer to third VP on the executive committee of the National Council of Investigative and Security Services. The NCISS committee’s main function is to monitor legislative and regulatory activities, investigations in the security industry and develop and encourage high standards of conduct. Duffy is president of the security division at Per Mar Security Services, based in Des Moines, Iowa. Per Mar installs and services security systems throughout the Midwest out of 23 branches. Security Systems News caught up with Brad to ask him five questions.

Five Questions: Cassie Weaver


Cassie Weaver was appointed the operation coordinator for Dakota Security, a PSA Security owner based here, in May. She assists with sales and engineering and other duties around the office. Dakota Security has more than 100 employees. Its operations are concentrated in the upper Midwest with offices in Des Moines, Iowa; Omaha, Neb.; Fargo, N.D.; and Chicago. It also has an East Coast office in New York, and a West Coast office in Phoenix. Originally from Iowa, Weaver’s family moved to South Dakota when she graduated from high school. She eventually moved away but then returned to the area. Security Systems News talked with her in November and asked her five questions.
