Five Questions: Rich Cowan

Rich Cowan is Dynamark’s new director of sales for the western U.S., “basically, everything west of Texas,” as he described it. “My job is to introduce Dynamark to the western United States,” he said, a territory where the company is less prevalent. Prior to this role, he worked for COPS Monitoring for 12 years. Security Systems News caught up with Cowan, based out of Gilbert, Ariz., and asked him five questions.

Richmond Alarm is a full-service alarm company, founded in 1947, based in Midlothian, Va. The company monitors about 30,000 accounts from its own monitoring center—two-thirds of which are wholesale. Annette El-Jor recently joined the team as its operations manager, in charge of the technicians, service, installations, fire inspections, and inventory control. In early January, Security Systems News asked her five questions.

Brad Duffy has been promoted from treasurer to third VP on the executive committee of the National Council of Investigative and Security Services. The NCISS committee’s main function is to monitor legislative and regulatory activities, investigations in the security industry and develop and encourage high standards of conduct. Duffy is president of the security division at Per Mar Security Services, based in Des Moines, Iowa. Per Mar installs and services security systems throughout the Midwest out of 23 branches. Security Systems News caught up with Brad to ask him five questions.

Cassie Weaver was appointed the operation coordinator for Dakota Security, a PSA Security owner based here, in May. She assists with sales and engineering and other duties around the office. Dakota Security has more than 100 employees. Its operations are concentrated in the upper Midwest with offices in Des Moines, Iowa; Omaha, Neb.; Fargo, N.D.; and Chicago. It also has an East Coast office in New York, and a West Coast office in Phoenix. Originally from Iowa, Weaver’s family moved to South Dakota when she graduated from high school. She eventually moved away but then returned to the area. Security Systems News talked with her in November and asked her five questions.

Howard Wulforst, new regional manager for RFI Communications & Security Systems, is in charge of branch locations in southern California and southern Nevada. His focus will be to drive growth in the Southwest. Wulforst is a third-generation security professional. One of his four children recently started working in the industry. Security Systems News caught up with him to ask him five questions.

Jason Sidok started working part time for his father’s security and fire alarm company, Home and Commercial Security, when he was 16. He recently was promoted to VP operations from director of customer support. In his new role, he will help manage daily operations, including the technical, sales and customer service departments, and is responsible for strategic goal setting and growth of the organization, as well as vendor relations, product lines, training and customer support and marketing. Security Systems News caught up with Sidok to ask him five questions.

Marty Borer, 36, is the new general manager of Quick Response, a 24/7 monitoring company for security and burglary, fire, PERS and two-way voice monitoring. Before joining the company, based in Cleveland, he worked in operational management and IT, and, also, previously ran a dry cleaning business. Joining a security company fulfilled his desire to widen his skillset, he said. Security Systems News caught up with Borer to ask him five questions.

Dan Krumme, a past Security Systems News “20 under 40” winner, was recently promoted to vice president, branch manager, at Cam-Dex Security’s St. Louis office. Cam-Dex focuses on design, testing and maintenance of integrated security systems.
