Turns out it was a sneak peek of Johnson Controls' new branding effort, more than two years in the making and officially launched Oct. 1.

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia--Unisys Canada, a wholly owned subsidiary of Unisys and an integrator of security solutions, announced in August a contract with the Port of Halifax here to create and manage a biometric credentialing and access control database system. Notably, Unisys has chosen Identica's vascular scan technology to verify the identities of some 4,000 port workers.

ANNAPOLIS, Md.--CompuDyne Corporation, a manufacturer of security products and a systems integrator working primarily in the corrections market, has agreed to be acquired by an investor group for $7 per share in cash, a 32 percent premium on the stock's price as of Aug.

Adesta to install $1m outdoor surveillance system with Jefferson County, Texas

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas--Adesta, a systems integrator specializing in critical infrastructure installations, has won a $958,000 contract with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department to install an IP/wireless video surveillance system along the banks of the Sabine and Neches rivers here. Cameras will be installed at remote locations along a large stretch between Beaumont and Port Arthur, with video streaming back to both the United States Coast Guard Vessel Tracking Station and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

Mainland Europe propels Securitas Systems' 1H performance

STOCKHOLM--Sales and net income at security systems and services provider Securitas Systems increased in the first six months of this year, with the growth fueled by operations in mainland Europe, the company's CEO, Juan Vallejo, said at a press conference in August marking the release of the company's 1H results.
Group sales for 1H 2007 were up by 15 percent on the year, to roughly $500 million (all figures have been converted from the Swedish Kronor to the U.
