Commercial integrators take small steps toward environmental friendliness

YARMOUTH, Maine--While few commercial security systems integrators would claim to run environmentally friendly businesses by design, many have taken small, logical steps to reduce their impact on the environment. Some efforts are as simple as organizing internal recycling campaigns, others are as complex as actively searching out new vendors for tried-and-true solutions, but most are simple common sense.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--Privately held security integrator Amata announced in early June a $152 million contract with Pacific Texas Pipeline and Transportation Company to install and service a security system to protect 900 miles of pipeline stretching from El Paso, Texas, to Phoenix, and from Phoenix, to Las Vegas.

Infrastruct, Dowley attack petro triangle

HOUSTON--Infrastruct Security, a full-service security firm specializing in the regulated security market, has merged with Dowley Security, an Oklahoma-based integrator working in the petrochemical, gaming and banking markets. The deal, finalized May 31, was funded with $3 million in Series B funding contributed by Murphree Venture Partners, Stonehendge Capital, Jeminson Investment and Louisiana Fund 2, the same consortium that supplied Infrastruct with $4 million in funding at this time last year.

HOUSTON--ASAP Security Services, a security systems integrator based here, has begun devoting considerable resources to the manufacture of the Cam-V Mobile Security System, veering from its traditional installation business to serve a need the company saw as part of its work with construction firms. The self-contained system contains a DVR, PTZ cameras atop a 23-foot pole that are remotely accessible via Sprint's cellular broadband network, and batteries that keep the system running for 30 days before a backup generator kicks in to recharge them.
