ATLANTA--In an effort to build its financial services business, Securitas Security Systems in October acquired Hamilton Pacific, one of the leading providers of security services to financial institutions in the United States.
The purchase is part of Securitas' strategy to build its expertise in the banking market, according to Marty Guay, chief operating officer of Securitas.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill.--Kimberly McGhee, a Franklin County woman who was kidnapped at gunpoint from a West Frankfort Burger King at which she worked, filed on November 10 a lawsuit against Accent Security Alarms, of Jackson, Mo.

SIA talks up new training, certification

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--By the end of 2006, "those who are engineering tomorrow's security systems" will be able to acquire training online via a Security Industry Association program, and a certification for what's tentatively titled Security System Design Specialist "should be right behind it," said SIA Director of Education Jay Hanger and SIA Industry Group Manager Doug Wright.
