Ingersoll-Rand announces Conover as president, Security Technologies Sector

Ingersoll-Rand plc on July 1 announced John W. Conover IV has been named president of Ingersoll Rand's Security Technologies Sector, effective immediately. In addition, he has been elected senior vice president of the company. Conover previously was president of Ingersoll Rand's Trane Commercial Systems, Americas, business. He will report directly to Michael W. Lamach, president and chief operating officer.

“John brings extraordinary knowledge and experience working within the commercial building marketplace,” said Lamach in a press release. “As we increasingly focus on providing safe, comfortable and efficient solutions for commercial building owners, and the integration of building systems, John's experience leading large commercial field and delivery organizations will serve to accelerate the growth and innovation plans for this sector. John thoroughly understands customer value creation, and how to adapt organizations and processes to deliver that value efficiently.

“John also possesses strong leadership skills, which he has demonstrated throughout his career with Trane,” Lamach continued. “In particular, over the past decade John has successfully driven the evolution of Trane's Americas business from being primarily an equipment business to becoming an integrated systems, services and controls business.”

Conover joined Trane in 1977 as a sales engineer based in Detroit, Michigan, and later became sales leader. He was promoted to district manager for Columbus/Cincinnati in 1994. In 2002 Conover was named vice president, Americas Distribution. In 2008 he was named president, Americas, for Trane Commercial Systems. Conover also leads Ingersoll Rand's sustainability strategy council.
