Z-Wave Alliance announces support of cyber labeling programs for IoT devices

BEAVERTON, Ore. – The Z-Wave Alliance, the standards development organization, announced its full support of the latest cybersecurity labeling programs for IoT and connected devices.
In conjunction with the recent Z-Wave Alliance Summit & Unplug Fest 2024, the Alliance announced that the Z-Wave protocol security framework meets, and in some cases exceeds, the regulations and requirements set forth by the recently announced U.S. Cyber Trust Mark.
“Robust device security has long stood as a cornerstone of the Z-Wave protocol,” said Avi Rosenthal, chairman of the board for the Z-Wave Alliance. “The Z-Wave Alliance commends all the hard work done by our industry cohorts at the Connectivity Standards Alliance in raising much-needed awareness surrounding the complexities of enhanced cybersecurity for connected devices.”
Z-Wave said that all its devices are subject to a rigorous certification process to ensure device security, compatibility, and interoperability. The Alliance noted that as cybersecurity labeling becomes more prevalent, the Alliance remains committed to its certification process. The Z-Wave Alliance certification program does not compete with the CSA Product Security Verified Mark nor the U.S. Cyber Trust Mark but instead signals support and compliance for the developing regulations and specifications.
