HARTFORD, Conn.—ADT is being sued by pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, which alleges a security contractor's carelessness allowed thieves to take millions of dollars in drugs from a Connecticut warehouse, according to a report from UPI.
Lilly and National Fire Insurance Co. filed suit against Boca Raton, Fla.-based ADT in U.S. District Court in Hartford, alleging in court papers that perpetrators of the large-scale theft, which occurred in 2010, had been able to obtain detailed knowledge of the Enfield, Conn.-based warehouse's security system, which ADT installed.
Two brothers, Amed and Amaury Villas, are awaiting trial for the Connecticut theft, the report said.
In court papers, Lilly valued the drugs at $80 million, and says similar burglaries hit warehouses with ADT security in Florida, Texas and Illinois. Amed Villas also is charged with involvement in the Illinois theft.
The plaintiffs allege ADT was careless about the safekeeping of security information systems, according to the report.
