Axis stays atop IHS video surveillance rankings, claims top spot for video encoders

CHELMSFORD, Mass.—Axis Communications, a provider of network video surveillance solutions, retained the top spot in IHS Research's annual rankings of the top video surveillance companies, according to a news release.
Ranking just behind Axis in the same category were the Japanese electronics giant Panasonic and China-based Hikvision, according to the recently released report, titled “CCTV and Video Surveillance Equipment - World - 2013.”
In addition, Axis for the first time claimed the No. 1 ranking for video encoders worldwide, the release noted.
While IHS declined to say who Axis had displaced atop the video encoder rankings, a market analyst at IHS told Security Systems News that other leading suppliers of encoders, according to their 2013 rankings, include Hikvision, Pelco, Bosch Security and NICE Systems.
