BeON Home gets $2.9 million Erchak predicts BeON will be a ‘no brainer’ add-on for security dealers

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—BeON Home, a startup provider of Bluetooth smart-home lighting protection system, has closed a $2.9 million funding round.

Alexei Erchak, CEO of BeON Home, told Security Systems News that the company is “committed to bringing the benefits of BeON Home to consumers both direct-to-consumer and through the security dealer channel.” He said the new investment will be used for product development and integration “making it a no-brainer for security dealers to add the BeON home protection system to their portfolio.”

The round was led by Jopeko and included existing investors and multiple new investors.

Jopeko is a Boston-based investment company run by Joseph Kolchinsky, who also sits on the BeOn board of directors. Jopeko invests in consumer technology, smart home and Internet of Things companies.

BeON has two products. One is sold direct to consumers via the BeOn website and Amazon, while BeON Pro is available through select security dealers.

BeON Pro allows dealers to “sell an additional layer of preventative security and safety that complements traditional security panel systems,” Erchak said. The product “produces an entirely new revenue stream, without marginalizing any existing products and creates a pathway to providing additional smart home services,” he added.

Integrating the product into security systems is a “high priority on our roadmap,” Erchak said.

He noted that BeON was the first winner of the Z-Wave Labs IoT Competition and “has plans for supporting compatibility with Z-Wave-based systems and platforms."

BeON is considering adding other features smart modules, including one that would produce sounds when someone rings the doorbell during the day. Erchak said the sound would “make it sound like you are home, even if you are not.”

BeON is exploring new products for outdoor lighting locations, “further extending the perimeter of protection provided by the BeON system,” Erchak added.

BeOn can add new features through firmware updates. Erchak described it as a “modular system that can get smarter over time. … [We] will be developing new bulbs, smart modules, and accessories that will expand the system and provide additional safety and security in your home.”
