FSD wins contract HURST, Texas - The Republic Group of Insurance Companies has selected Fire Systems Design, a Notifier distributor based here, to serve as the contractor for the retrofit fire alarm installation in the company’s 314,000 square foot headquarters in Dallas. The new system will include a Notifier AM-2020 fire alarm control panel with remote audio paging capabilities and multiple XPIQ transponders distributed throughout the building for audio amplification. Two risers for fire detection and audio distribution will also be installed. AFSA elects directors DALLAS - The American Fire Sprinkler Association has elected the following to its board of directors: Tom McKinnon of Aegis Fire Systems, Pleasonton, Calif., was elected as director for Region 1; Dwight Bateman of Southeast Fire Protection, Houston, was elected as director for Region 4. Martin Creasman of Central Fire Protection, Conyers, Ga., and Joe Heinrich of Bamford Fire Sprinkler, Salina, Kan., were elected as directors at large and Donald Albares of American Sprinkler Co., Metairie, La., was re-elected as a director at large. Newly elected directors were scheduled to take office in September at the conclusion of the AFSA Convention and Exhibition Sept. 14 in Boca Raton, Fla. AFAA releases informational guide LAKE MARY, Fla. - The Automatic Fire Alarm Association announced that a guide, “Quality Informational Guide for Automatic Fire Detection and Alarm Systems,” is available. The guide is produced by the AFAA and the Signaling, Protection and Communications Section of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association.
