Brivo Systems announces sales, engineering appointments Company names new director of biz dev, VP engineering

BETHESDA, Md.—Brivo Systems, a provider of software-as-a-service applications for security management, on Oct. 4 announced the appointment of two new positions in its sales and engineering departments.
Daniel Abernathy has been named director of business development. Abernathy will be responsible for sales in the Eastern Region of the U.S. and Canada, and will spearhead the company's expanding federal sales strategy.
Abernathy's 20-year career in the IT industry has included executive and strategic marketing positions with IT integration as well as global manufacturing companies. Most recently, Abernathy was the VP of sales and marketing for MicroAutomation, an integrator of Contact Center solutions.
Chris Valas has also joined Brivo in the position of VP of Engineering. Valas brings over 25 years of experience in software development, operations, and management—including numerous successes in product development and scaling engineering capacity for mid-stage ventures. Valas was most recently Vice President of technology at EKO Systems, a healthcare information technology developer.
