BuildingReports.com, NFPA sign license agreement for codes and standards

May 6, 2004 NORCROSS, Ga. - BuildingReports.com has signed a license agreement with the National Fire Protection Association to include embedded references from NFPA codes and standards for fire safety in public buildings. The embedded references will be included in BuildingReports.com’s online Discrepancy Report, which the site’s members contribute to after a building inspection. The agreement is intended to allow building owners and managers to use the NFPA code references for substantiation and support rationale when approving repairs or discrepancies found during an inspection. “Building owners and property managers want to know why something needs to be done, and the embedded code references provide them with the reasons a problem needs to be corrected, directly from the source,” said Brett Brewster, president of BuildingReports.com. “If they have the support documentation, they can get the resources they need to properly address issues raised from inspections more quickly.” Using technology developed by BuildingReports.com, inspection companies can locate appropriate code references automatically, based on an analysis of device type and test results recorded on a PDA during the inspection. The completed inspection can then be synchronized with online servers, and the code references are available online and in printed versions of the inspection report.
