CompUSA to feature HAI products

July 17, 2003 DALLAS - Through a new focus on home control technology, retailer CompUSA is delving into the home controls market by showcasing professionally installed products direct to the consumer, including those of security and automation products maker HAI. Under the terms of the agreement signed between the two companies, CompUSA will feature HAI's products in the retailer's new Digital Living Centers, interactive models of a home where consumers can see and feel different products that can be installed in their home. "CompUSA wants to help builders show their customers what kind of technology can be installed in the home during the building process, which includes security, home routers and high-speed Internet," said Jay McLellan, president of HAI. The Digital Living Centers "will give these technologies an enhanced awareness to consumers," he said. Through the partnership, HAI officials said its products won't be "sitting on the shelf in CompUSA stores," but will still be professionally installed, through the use of a professional installation force located around the country. While CompUSA has more than 230 retail stores around the country, the company has two Digital Living Centers, one in Plano, Texas, and another in Aurora, Colo., according to a company spokesperson.
