Denham Springs, La. approves amendment to automatic fire alarm ordinance

DENHAM SPRINGS, La.--A Nov. 11 story from 2theadvocate.com reports the Denham Springs City Council unanimously approved an amendment to an existing ordinance that imposes fines for excessive false alarms caused by automatic fire alarm transmitting equipment.

The new regulations state that in any 12-month period, three false alarm signals will be permitted without penalty.

However, a letter would be sent by the Fire Department's Fire Prevention Division to the owner of the premises giving notice that fines would be issued for additional false alarms in the same time period.

For the fourth false alarm signal in any consecutive 12-month period, the penalty shall be a fine of $100. For the fifth false alarm signal in any consecutive 12-month period, the penalty shall be a fine of $200. For the sixth or any subsequent false alarm signals in any consecutive 12-month period, the penalty shall be a fine of $300.
