DMP Owners Forum helps dealers leverage trends New products, services expand DIY, connected home options

LAS VEGAS—The DMP Owners Forum, held here April 5 at the Wynn Resort & Casino, brought together the top 50 DMP dealers to network, learn about new DMP products and services, and listen to industry acclaimed speakers. Hosted by DMP executive management, this event takes place the day before the ISC West exhibit opens, providing a daylong educational forum in support of DMP dealers.

“The DMP Owners Forum was outstanding this year, as they introduced some new products and services that help give dealers more opportunities in the connected home and DIY space,” John Loud, president of LOUD Security Systems, told Security Systems News.

On the product side, DMP unveiled its new XTLplus Wireless Security Control Panel, which DMP's VP of product design Jeff Britton said includes “all the features and benefits dealers will need in a residential or small commercial panel, in a single small footprint,” including 48 zones of 900Mhz 2-way wireless, cellular and Wi-Fi communication and Z-Wave Plus all in one.

Britton pointed out that DMP developers and engineers strove to create a panel for “fast installation, reliable security and ease of operation,” for dealers and end users.

DMP also unveiled its newest service, The Company Store, which provides high-level security products that “can be dealer-delivered to the residential market, as well as to the DIY market,” said Britton.

Each dealer website links to the DMP online store, which homeowners can access and decide which products and services they want. Dealers enter their own pricing for each DIY product through an “easy administrative dashboard,” said Britton. End users may navigate the website without the help of a dealer directly and end users can choose their contract, based on what the dealer chooses to offer.

Ultimately, The Company Store allows dealers to offer more options without having to invest millions in back-end fulfillment. “The heavy-duty work is fulfilled by DMP to make DIY systems even easier for dealers and end users,” said Britton.

At the forum, dealers were also introduced to DMP's new OnDemand Monitoring solution, which allows customers to purchase monitoring from security dealers for however long they will need it—one day, three days, etc.

Several dealers commented that they were happy to see that DMP is responding to the latest trends, while also providing a forum where they can give feedback about the direction DMP is taking with its products and services.

In addition to the introduction of new products and services to help dealers, the forum also provided two keynote speakers, Rory Vaden and Mark Murphy.

Dealers in attendance seemed to get a lot out of Rory Vaden's message about the habits and discipline required to be what he called a “top performer” or “ultra performer,” which ultimately helps dealers “improve all aspects of the their lives and businesses,” he said. Vaden also signed free copies of his best-selling book Take the Stairs.

In his keynote, bestselling author Mark Murphy did an excellent job of getting to the root of “what makes great leaders great,” as he said, and the steps that are needed to be an effective company owner and leader. Attendees also received a free, signed copy of Murphy's book, Hundred Percenters: Challenge Your People to Give It Their All and They'll Give You Even More.
