ESX 2016 announces Innovation Award winners

Ten finalists will compete in Texas for ‘best of show’ honors
Wednesday, April 27, 2016

FORT WORTH, Texas—The 25 Innovation Award winners (see full list below) were announced by ESX today, and 10 finalists will be chosen from that list to battle it out in the second annual ESX TechVision Challenge, an interactive competition held live at ESX 2016 in the Fort Worth Convention Center, Texas, on Tuesday, June 7.

The ESX Innovation Award recognizes achievements for companies that bring a new and exceptional product or service to the customer, or for those delivering innovative ways for companies to operate more efficiently and profitably.

“It is a great opportunity for these companies, manufacturers and service providers to show off their new products and services that help the industry leap forward,” ESX Chairman George De Marco told Security Systems News. “And it gives the industry, and dealers an opportunity to refresh their products that are out there in the marketplace.”

Among the 13 product categories, De Marco said the top three categrories that saw the highest increase were Intrusion Systems - DIY Security; Installation/Service Tools - Productivity Mobile Apps; and Video Surveillance - IP Cameras.

De Marco said that the 10 finalists compete for “Best of Show” product or service in a “Shark Tank” style competition before a panel of judges from the industry.

“In order to be crowned Best of Show, you really have to earn it,” said De Marco. “You have to get before a panel of judges and you really have to convince them, which makes it that much more meaningful."

De Marco pointed out that last year’s TechVision was so well received that the format will remain the same. “A lot of people are excited to possibly participate in the challenge this year as well,” he said. “I was very impressed with the professionalism and the amount of detail brought to TechVision last year.”

In addition to recognizing Innovation Award winners with an award, winning products will be recognized in a special Innovation Showcase exhibit on the show floor, and the best of show winner will be announced and recognized on Wednesday, June 8, at 2 p.m. in ESX Central, a new feature located at the center of the trade show floor that will be used for events, announcements and happenings.

“I think it is important to recognize these companies for delivering products that resonate with the end user, and create some excitement,” said De Marco.
