ERLANGER, Ky.--Fire Fighting Enterprises, a manufacturer of optical beam smoke detectors, has expanded its presence in the U.S. by establishing FFE Americas, a separate American corporation based here in this suburb of Cincinnati. “We’ve hired office staff and all of our business functions have been transferred here,” said Bob Barker, FFE’s director of operations for the Americas. Barker said increased demand for FFE’s optical beam detectors was the driver behind the move. “This will make the logistics much easier and since we’ll have everything inventoried, we will be able to respond quicker,” he said. Most of FFE’s business is OEM’d. FFE supplies optical beam detectors for Honeywell, GE, SimplexGrinnell, Siemens and Bosch. The beam detectors are suited for wide-area coverage in applications such as warehouses, shopping centers and power stations. Barker said to expect more news from FFE Americas in the near future as it’s in “acquisition mode.”
